about
"Thump" is a song that was written and recorded in a hurry and a flurry in August 2022. It’s based around a relentless electro thud created by Robbie Major and the lyrics try to tie together all the loose ends of a hectic and difficult summer, from both a political and personal perspective. It's about your confidence being knocked and anxieties being triggered in a time of turmoil.
lyrics
Don’t blame this all on yourself
Your vulnerability matters
And there’s no entertainment here
not for miles and miles and...
Take that pound sign off your head
You’re no plaything, you’re no product
You are everything
Yes, you are everything and nothing
Echo echo echo chambered
Sewage piped into the ocean
This illusion, mock delusion
This, nationwide facade
Idolatry of the idiot
As we’re crushed into the mire
Just play nice, play nice, get back to work, shut up, play nice
With, demons...
All this failure masked as victory,
Reinvention for attention.
This, isn’t about bravado.
This, isn’t pushing ego,
And here comes that pounding boot now
Getting louder, getting louder.
And here comes that pounding boot,
Tongues out, tongues out...
For, demons
I constantly concede my ground to louder mouths, bigger egos,
Loaded bullies with no chops, no marks, all barks.
And I want to be strong, to stand up for myself, not not break down in the face of wealth and status. But it’s drilled in.
I downplay everything, I’ve convinced myself my skills are worthless but I’m trying to relearn, to find confidence from somewhere. Lift my head.
That day of dread will come, so hold back on the realisation that the best years are long gone.
Red marked debt letters and the arrogance and the jealousy of the young,
As we morph into that miserable loner in the darkened corner of the room.
Opinionated, hated, inebriated.
And it’s not even closing time.
Yet you’re ready to go, it’s fine.
And yes this place is a mess, it’s broken, but we’re strong.
So let’s not back down. Let’s not back down.
Don’t turn away.
We can win this, we can win...

I can safely say I've never been this excited over a piece of plastic in my entire life! This is awesome! It's impossible to pick a favourite when every track is a banger. The lyrics are on point and delivered with an acerbic wit and passion that leaves me in no doubt that they're spoken from the heart. I need more of this in my life! Dylan Barry
